VIENNA, AUSTRIA — August 2026 — From September 11 to 12, 2026, the VHS Großfeldsiedlung will host “Common Diversities: Cultures in Motion” (Kulturen in Bewegung), a dynamic 1.5-day cultural festival celebrating the creative and cultural contributions of Asian and other migrant communities in Austria.
Building upon the success of the Sentro project KUBŌ – Kultur Bayanihan Österreich (2022–2024), this festival of diversity aims to permanently expand the presence and perspectives of migrant communities within Austrian cultural life.
Highlights of the Festival
- Diverse Artistic Expressions: Enjoy a rich program featuring live artistic performances, hands-on interactive workshops, and engaging discussions.
- Spaces for Encounter: The festival creates dedicated spaces for interkultural exchange, fostering dialogue and strengthening awareness of diversity as a profound societal opportunity.
- Youth Empowerment: A core focus is providing young people from diverse backgrounds with a platform for self-expression, active participation, and empowerment.
Rooted in Groundbreaking Research and Literature
The festival’s conceptual framework is closely tied to two influential publications that bridge research, cultural work, and community knowledge:
- Common Diversities – Junge Filipin@s im deutschsprachigen Raum (2022)
- Common Diversities 2 – Filipino Europeans Remaking the Past, Shaping the Future (2025)
These books support identity formation within the diaspora while opening up critical new perspectives on migration, belonging, and cultural transformation across Europe.
